Sidra is looking for highly motivated and exceptionally skilled Orthopaedic
Practitioners / Plaster Technicians.
The Orthopaedic Practitioner / Plaster Technician provides care and support to
patients by performing procedures such as the application, adjustment and
removal of casts, splints and braces, assembling and fitting traction apparatus,
fitting and provision of crutches for mobility and wound management. The
incumbent works across the hospital within Inpatient units, Emergency
Departments, Surgery, and Outpatient clinics to provide high level care as part
of a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in care,
application, and safe removal of cast’s specialized to paediatric
orthopaedics (e.g. hip spica, Ponseti casts, etc.) and Emergency
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in application
of specialized braces including Pavlik Harness, Hip Abduction
braces, Clubfoot Foot Abduction Orthosis (FAO), etc.
Demonstrated experience of wound care.
Interpretation of X-rays.
Experience working with disabled or injured

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Senior Plaster Technician at the
Royal Devon & Exeter Foundation Trust Hospital.
The post holder will be part of the Fracture clinic & Outpatient team and will
be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner, providing all aspects of
plaster techniques and support to outpatient clinics/satellite community
clinics/ Orthopaedics theatres.
The successful candidate will have a current valid Stanmore Certificate and
extensive background and experience working in a plaster room.
